Blog of Appliness
Retina display

The NEW iPad has a retina display which means a much bigger screen resolution: 2048 x 1536 pixels. The first issue of Appliness has been created before the launch of this new device, that’s why it doesn’t look “crispy” on the new Ipad screen. We have done some tests today to implement a new workflow. The next issue will be in high resolution and the result will be AWESOME. The last version of Adobe Digital Publishing Suite introduced the notion of “renditions”. For the same issue, we’ll have two renditions: a high-definition one and a regular one. The Appliness application will automatically detect the best version to match the screen resolution of the device. So the folio won’t be heavier for iPad 1 and iPad 2 readers. We’ll also use the PDF format as an output on iOS. It means that the magazine will be lighter and also that you’ll be able to zoom-in on the pages of the magazine.
